First in a series!

As I have been doing my preassessment for Organisms--Macro to Micro, which is a basic biology course, I have been struck by the inconsistency of student knowledge and comprehension (Bloom's I and II) of the natural world. Some students have thought that rocks are alive,
others have never heard of the five kingdoms of living things.
Almost none have heard of cells, and certainly not of cell components!

The course is highly focused on scientific inquiry, so I will be filling in a fair amount of basic life science. This includes showing the Eyewitness series on animal life, starting with Mammals, to acquaint students with the basic aspects of living things (characteristics, behavior, and habitat).
I will also include a series on
Life in Action,
to include plants, bacteria, protists, non-human animals, and humans.
This will also include the basics of evolution.

If you have questions, please contact me.
I am excited to have this opportunity to encourage
scientific literacy in biology!
